Theatre preview - Johnny & June and murders at home and abroad

The Ballad of Johnny & June, which comes to the New Theatre, Cardiff next week (10-14 March) tells the rollercoaster story of country music power-couple, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.

American musical theatre star Christopher Ryan Grant, who played Cash in the US and Canada, brings his acclaimed portrayal to the UK stage for this tour, with Christina Bianco as the multiple Grammy winner June

Packed with hits including I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, Hey Porter, Jackson, and I’ve Been Everywhere and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, tickets for The Ballad of Johnny & June are available here.

🎭 You can spend an evening in England’s deadliest county, when Midsomer Murders - The Killings at Badger's Drift arrives at the New Theatre later this month (31 March to 4 April).

Like the Morse play which we reviewed earlier this year, this is the first stage production of a hugely popular TV crime show.

We are promised the much-loved blend of colourful characters, plot twists, and of course, a big reveal.

One extra twist in this production is that DCI Tom Barnaby is played by Daniel Casey - fondly remembered as Barnaby's sidekick, DS Gavin Troy, in the original TV series.

🎭 One of the great crime novels of the 20th Century, Double Indemnity, comes to the Cardiff stage (5-9 May), starring Mischa Barton (from The OC).

Set in Los Angeles in the 1930s, it's a classic tale of lust, greed, and murder, made famous in Billy Wilder's Raymond Chandler-scripted movie, starring Barbara Stanwick.
