A locally made animated short film has just dropped its first teaser trailer.
A Fish Out of Water, co-written by our own Andy Weltch and award-winning Rhiwbina-born scriptwriter Robert Lancey, is now swimming steadily through production.
The teaser offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the animation magic taking shape.
Billed as “a tale of the fantastical and bizarre,” the film follows Victorian investigator Henry Godliman, voiced by the much-loved TV actor Robert Daws (from Outside Edge, Jeeves & Wooster, The Royal, Poldark, Sister Boniface Mysteries and many more).
Feeling rather out of his depth, Godliman finds himself in a Devon beer house listening to the strange stories of sailors, just back from a long voyage.

The script began life as a flash fiction story Andy wrote during the COVID lockdowns, and it’s already making waves, having been selected for two competitions.
Acclaimed Cardiff animator Matthew Creed is directing and animating the film, with Anthony Richards handling design, and Charlie Diggle creating the sound and music.
The other main characters are voiced by Francesca Louise White (who starred in the multi award-winning, Rhiwbina-produced Annalium 8: Sssss), Richard Oliver, and Samantha Hudson.
You can watch the teaser here, and if you’re curious to dive deeper into the project, you can find more details on IMDb.
