Deri Stores lives on for the foreseeable future

Reports of the demise of the long-established Deri Stores in Rhiwbina are "greatly exaggerated", following a recently submitted planning application.

The application seeks permission to demolish the existing detached house (shop) and adjacent buildings to be replaced by two detached houses.

The news has sparked speculation on social media today (Tuesday) that the business is closing.

But Rhiwbina Info spoke to owners Adrian and Mary Davies who run the family business. They were at pains to clarify there are no current plans to close the Stores, and the planning application is simply part of their personal forward planning.

While many locals responded with sadness and disappointment at what they thought might be an imminent closure, the news has provided an opportunity for customers to thank Adrian and Mary for their many years of hard work, with a special mention for the abundant flower range and the all-important Christmas trees.
