A range of events will take place over the next few months to help young people decide on their next steps following A-Level and GCSE exam results in August.
The Cardiff Commitment is bringing together employers, careers advisors and other organisations to give young people information and advice on opportunities in education, employment, training and volunteering.
Taking place across the city from June until August, you can find a full programme of events here: www.whatsnextcardiff.co.uk and www.intoworkcardiff.co.uk
Young People can also find information on the ‘What’s Next? Cardiff’ website www.whatsnextcardiff.co.uk
Aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds in Cardiff, the platform aims to make it quicker and easier for young people to find out their options.
The platform has been developed by the Cardiff Commitment – the Cardiff Council initiative that brings together the public, private and third sectors in partnership, with schools and education providers, to connect children and young people to opportunities in education, training and work.
Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills, Councilor Sarah Merry, said: “The planned events alongside the What’s Next? Platform, provide a wealth of knowledge and advice for young people when they are considering ‘what next?’, helping to raise the aspirations at a time when many may be feeling uncertain following the end of their exams.”
Into Work Advice Service can also help young people to decide their next move, providing specialised employment advice, free training (subject to eligibility), help to access funding for up-front costs needed before starting a job or college and 1-to-1 guidance through the difficulties of finding work or further education.
Throughout the summer, the Into Work Advice Service will host and participate in a number of events across the city.
