Trees stolen, but local businesses sponsor replacements

Trees planted outside All Saints Church, in memory of loved ones, were stolen within days of being planted, Wales Online has reported.

The apple trees were planted to launch the community orchard project, but they were removed days later.

Rhiwbina councillor and Conservative Party candidate for Cardiff North in the National Assembly, Jayne Cowan, said: “I am so cross and disappointed. People sponsored the trees in memory of loved ones and to be told they have all been stolen is disgraceful.”

But good news followed, with local businesses stepping in to provide replacements. Jayne posted on social media: “Thanks so much to The Art Workshop, Nest Vintage, Jerod and The Garden Village Garage for sponsoring new trees. That’s brilliant news.”

Brilliant indeed. However, if anyone has any information on the theft, please contact South Wales Police on 101, quoting reference number 1600031090.
