Thornhill cemetery and crematorium win national awards
Thornhill cemetery and crematorium have won national awards for excellence and sustainability.
Thornhill Cemetery has been awarded a Silver Award in the large cemetery category at the National Cemetery of the Year Awards.

And Thornhill Crematorium has achieved gold status under the Greener Globe Funeral Standards scheme.
Organised by the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons (BRAMM), the cemetery awards recognise excellence across the bereavement sector, with entries assessed against industry standards, good practice and freedom of choice for bereaved families.
Greener Globe is a national environmental audit programme for the funeral sector, designed to encourage continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Thornhill Crematorium previously achieved bronze status in 2025 and has now progressed to Gold following a further independent audit.
Cardiff Council cabinet member, Ed Stubbs, said: "To receive national recognition for both the quality of our services and our environmental work is a significant achievement and testament to the dedication and professionalism of our Bereavement Services Team.”
In 2024, Thornhill won Cemetery of the Year for a record fourth time, having previously won in 2016, 2020 and 2021.
