The Gruffalo’s Child Comes to Cardiff

Cardiff’s New Theatre is about to welcome The Gruffalo’s Child Live on Stage, writes Alys Jones. This show forms part of internationally acclaimed theatre company Tall Stories’ 21st anniversary season and will showcase the production’s new set and costumes, direct from a smash-hit West End season.

One wild and windy night the Gruffalo’s Child ignores her father’s warning and tiptoes out into the snow. After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn’t really exist… does he? This charming new musical adventure is a perfect activity for children and families this summer holiday.

This hit musical adaptation of the award-winning sequel to The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is full of songs, laughs and lots of fun for children aged 3 and up, and their families. The show has received praise from The List, calling it ‘everything good children’s theatre should be’.

The Gruffalo’s Child is produced by award-winning theatre company Tall Stories, the creative force behind productions like Olivier Award-nominated Room on the Broom, The Snail and the Whale and The Snow Dragon. The team includes director Olivia Jacobs, creative producer Toby Mitchell, designer Isla Shaw, composers Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw of JollyGoodTunes and lighting designer James Whiteside.

The Gruffalo’s Child runs at Cardiff’s New Theatre from 2 – 5 August and tickets are available from the box office on (029) 2087 8889 and newtheatrecardiff.co.uk.
