Road closed due to sinkhole

A section of Maes-y-Coed Road has been closed today (Sunday 17 August) after a sinkhole opened up in the road surface.

This afternoon, the road in the Heath area remained closed to traffic in both directions, near the Allied Bakeries site.

But the pavements were open for pedestrians, and the cycle paths appeared to be open too.

Wales Online reported that a motorist who first noticed the hole on Sunday morning, said: "The hole appeared to be very deep and we could hear water running."

This afternoon, Welsh Water staff were in attendance at the scene.
