Rhiwbina Info is named Wales Information Platform of the Year

We are honoured to announce that Rhiwbina Info has been named Information Platform of the Year in the Prestige Awards for Wales.

The award recognises the improvements on our relaunched website, with its enhanced news service, business directory, and events calendar.

The Corporate Livewire Prestige Awards have been running for more than 20 years, recognising small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months.

The judging panel base their decisions on areas such as service excellence, quality of the product or service provided, innovative practices, value, ethical or sustainable methods of working, as well as consistency in performance.

We previously won the Prestige award for Cardiff and South Wales in 2020, but this is our first success at an all-Wales level.

Rhiwbina Info was established in 2013, taking over from the Rhiwbina Local site, created by local couple Emily and Nigel.

The small team at local communications business Weltch Media introduced the popular events calendar, and built up its social media presence on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.

The site is currently managed by Sophie Platt and Andy Weltch, who said: “This is very exciting news for us. We're very grateful to Corporate Live Wire for the recognition, to those who supported our application, and to the local businesses which support us and help offset some of the costs of maintaining the site."

Some of the comments we received:

Lisa Curtis, local estate agent and Premium Partner:

“I'm really impressed and pleased to be associated with Rhiwbina Info. Not only has it been a great platform for me to grow my business, it is also a valuable and trusted resource for the local community. With up-to-date notices about news, events and relevant information, it's a valuable asset to both businesses and residents. I highly recommend supporting Rhiwbina Info if you are a local business looking to reach potential customers and a wider audience.”

Lee Yanez, local business owner and Premium Partner (Adaptymyhome):

"Rhiwbina Info is a great source of local information and news. The new website is clearer and easier to navigate, so it's much quicker to find an event or a local business."

Gwyn Prescott, local resident and author:

“If you want to know about what is happening in the village, then Rhiwbina Info is the website to visit. As it is attractively designed and clearly set out, it is exceptionally easy to find your way around and also to read.  Rhiwbina Info is a most welcome and useful community resource.”

Jayne Cowan MBE, Cardiff City Councillor for Rhiwbina:

"The website is regularly updated with the latest events, and the directory of local businesses is incredibly helpful for people looking for shops and services locally. Its social media accounts are very popular too. Overall, it's a great service to the local community.”

Professor Richard Thomas, local resident and author:

“Rhiwbina Info is an increasingly important resource for so many of us, and somewhere we can find out about the new, interesting and exciting things that are happening locally and somewhere we can reference the important shops and business that we rely on. Somehow Rhiwbina Info manages to keep the feel of the village while also reflecting the growth and progress that we’ve all watched with interest. May it go from strength to strength!”
