Rhiwbina Info wins Prestige award

We are very pleased to report that Rhiwbina Info has been named Information Platform of the Year in the Cardiff and South Wales Prestige Awards 2020.

The judges were particulalry impressed by our regular updates and our activity on social media, especially during the current coronavirus pandemic.

They also highlighted the testimonials from local residents and concluded: “Rhiwbina Info stood out above the rest for the chosen category.”

The award means we will be listed in the Cardiff Business magazine to be published later this year. There is also due to be a presentation event in the city, if and when it can be arranged, given the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

For the last 16 years, Corporate Live Wire has been awarding national and international awards, and in 2019 it introduced regional awards to recognise smaller, independent businesses that are particularly successful and hard working on a local level.

These regional awards include cities, regions and states in Europe, North America, and the Middle East. They include London, Madrid, California, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Stockholm.

Rhiwbina Info was established in 2013, taking over from the Rhiwbina Local site, created by local couple Emily and Nigel. The small team at local communications business Weltch Media revamped the site, including the introduction of the popular events calendar, and has built up its social media presence on Twitter and Facebook.

The site is currently managed by Sophie Platt and Andrew Weltch, who said: “This is a great honour and a huge surprise! We’re very grateful to Corporate Live Wire for the recognition, and as ever to the local businesses which support us and help offset some of the costs of maintaining the site.

“These are exceptionally diffcult times for so many people, and reliable information is more important than ever, so it’s especialy gratifying to be recognised as Information Platform of the Year.”
