RHIWBINA FESTIVAL SCARECROW WALK: END OF THE WALK

The Rhiwbina Festival Scarecrow Walk has been a major talking point in Rhiwbina since it started last month, writes Sophie Platt. Now it has come to a close and the winning scarecrows have been announced.

Sponsored by Word of Mouth Maintenance, the Rhiwbina Festival Scarecrow Walk started early July and invited residents to make a scarecrow and display it.

The One Rhiwbina team then produced a map featuring all these scarecrows so that residents or visitors could walk round Rhiwbina and see all the scarecrows. Everyone could then vote for their favourites.

The creators of the winning three scarecrows each received a £50 voucher, donated by Word of Mouth Maintenance, which they can spend in any local Rhiwbina business. The three winning scarecrows are featured in this article.

There were so many brilliant scarecrows entered into this competition, congratulations to the three winners.

This festival brought the people of Rhiwbina together in a time when it was needed. Rhiwbina normally has so many events on, to have none for the past three months is strange – our events calendar has been unusually quiet!

This festival brought back that sense of community and provided a chance for the whole of Rhiwbina to get involved and do something together.

As well as this, money has also been raised for the Tenovus Cancer Care. As of last night (9th August 2020), a total of £540 had been raised. This is an amazing sum of money for a very important charity who do life saving work. If you wish to donate more, click here.

The scarecrows are still up around Rhiwbina for you to see if you want to catch another glimpse and go see the winning scarecrows.
