Long-serving Rhiwbina councillor Jayne Cowan has been named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours List.
Jayne, who has been a member of Cardff Council for 20 years and has the biggest majority in Wales, receives the honour for political and public services.
“I was totally shocked to receive the letter saying I had been awarded an MBE for political and public service,” she told Rhiwbina Info.
“I would like to dedicate this to my Dad who was my inspiration. He worked hard supporting charities and good causes and I enjoyed carrying on in his footsteps. It’s been a real pleasure to represent Rhiwbina. It has such a strong community and I really enjoy working with colleagues and the community.”
The 2020 New Year Honours list recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.
