North Cardiff play area reopens after refurbishment

Another North Cardiff play area has been reopened after refurbishment.

College Road play area in Gabalfa has been redesigned with input from pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg Glan Ceubal and Gabalfa Primary School.

The upgrade was designed to make the most of existing embankment features and includes a range of accessible and inclusive play features.

Children can now enjoy:

  • a three-bay swing set

  • basket swing

  • a wheelchair accessible roundabout

  • accessible play puzzle, noughts and crosses, and a light-up challenge play feature

  • hill slides

  • climbing features

  • new play mounds

  • new safety surfacing

Cardiff Council cabinet member Jennifer Burke, said: “We’re investing in upgrades to play areas across Cardiff because we know that access to good quality, safe, imaginative places to play is really important for children.

“When those places to play are free and on your doorstep, they can also have a huge impact on families, particularly at a time when many are struggling with the cost of living.”

We recently reported on the improvements at Rhydepennau Park.
