A new North Cardiff swimming pool - the first of its kind in the UK - has opened this week (28 July).
The 25-metre pool at Pentwyn Leisure Centre has been rebuilt over the past two years and now features state-of-the-art technology, including two movable floors — the first facility of its kind in the UK.

The design will enable a wider range of swimming activities and improve accessibility for all abilities, with adjustable depths ranging from 0.0m to 1.8m.
There is also a separate slide area for younger children.
There is a 'phased approach' to the opening, with taster sessions building towards a full programme in August.
Cardiff Council cabinet member Jennifer Burke said: “Reopening the swimming pool at Pentwyn Leisure Centre fulfils a longstanding commitment to the community and reflects a significant investment in local facilities at a time when many local authorities across the UK have had to make difficult decisions about leisure provision".
Other improvements at the centre, which is operated under the Better brand by not-for-profit social enterprise GLL (Greenwich Leisure Ltd) include new changing facilities and a more welcoming reception area.
GLL is also investing in health and fitness provision, with a new gym space being created in the main activities hall, able to accommodate a larger range of equipment and dedicated workout zones.
The current gym space is being converted into a fitness-class studio for zumba, yoga and pilates.
These improvements sit alongside energy-efficiency upgrades to the centre and the installation of rooftop solar panels and battery storage which are helping to reduce operating costs and improve the centre’s environmental performance in line with the council’s One Planet Cardiff commitments.
