Martin Shaw in a stage classic and there's a new Poirot

The famous 1966 film version of Robert Bolt's A Man For All Seasons won huge acclaim and multiple Oscars, and now - 60 years on - a new stage production, starring Martin Shaw, is coming to Cardiff.

Shaw, who rose to fame in TV's The Professionals and later starred in Judge John Deed and Inspector George Gently, stars as Sir Thomas More – scholar, ambassador, lord chancellor and friend to King Henry VIII.

He's a man of integrity, loved by the common people and his own family.

But when Henry demands a divorce from Catherine of Aragon, clearing the way for him to marry Anne Boleyn, the staunchly Catholic Thomas is forced to choose between his loyalty and his own conscience, committing an incredible act of defiance for which he eventually pays the ultimate price.

🎭 Another familiar face returns next month (17-21 November) - Agatha Christie's renowned detective Hercule Poirot is back in a new adaptation of The Hollow.

If, like me, you loved last year's Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, we should look forward to this, as it's from many of the same team.

There's a different actor donning the moustache, though - this time Peter Polycarpou steps into the patent leather shoes to solve a murder mystery in a country house.
