The faux streetwise journalist and gang leader Ali G is returning to the big screen after more than 20 years - and there's a Rhiwbina connection.
The comedy character's creator (and the film's writer, director, producer, and star) Sasha Baron Cohen is the cousin of long-serving councillor Jayne Cowan, who represents Rhiwbina ward on Cardiff Council.
Jayne posted on social media: "I want to wish my cousin Sacha Baron Cohen the very best for his new film which will be out on the 23rd October 2026".
We previously reported on the multi-award winner's Rhiwbina connection, when his Borat sequel Borat: Subsequent Movie Film was released in 2020.
The new film Ali G: Who Iz I? is due for release in October, but you can now see the trailer here.
Ali G, who claims to be leader of a street gang in Staines, first appeared on TV in the late 1990s, and on the big screen in Ali G Indahouse, which was released in 2002.
A multiple award winner and three-time Oscar nominee, Sasha Baron Cohen's new film will mark his feature directorial debut.
