Cafe opportunity at North Cardiff park

Would you like to set up and run a cafe in a popular North Cardiff park? An opportunity has just been announced.

Cardiff Council is looking for someone to set up and run a cafe in Parc Cefn Onn, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors a year.

The Green Flag Award-winning park in North Cardiff is home to streams, pools, winding paths, a magnificent collection of native and exotic trees, as well as areas of semi-natural woodland.

The upper park was originally laid out around 100 years ago by former owner Ernest Prosser, director of the adjacent Rhymney Valley Railway.

Now, the city council is advertising the chance to convert the former caretaker's bungalow into a café.

Council cabinet member Jennifer Burke said: "Parc Cefn Onn is such a beautiful space, and a lot of work has been done over the years to attract more visitors including improving access, upgrading toilet facilities, and restoring its historic features.

"Finding an operator to establish and run a park café is the next step in improving facilities and encouraging even more people to get outdoors and explore one Cardiff's slightly less well-known green spaces."

The 66.6-hectare country park is open seven days a week, has free car parking and is close to Lisvane train station.

Full details of the opportunity will be available at the following links towards the beginning of July: https://cardiffcouncilproperty.com/ and at https://fletchermorgan.co.uk/

Legal notices have been published advertising the ‘disposal' of 172.5 square metres of land at Parc Cefn Onn.

Such notices are sometimes misunderstood. ‘Disposal' is a legal term which, in this case, refers to the granting of a lease. All facilities will remain in the ownership of Cardiff Council.
