It’s Wednesday lunchtime at Beulah United Reformed Church and a room full of people are listening to four young singers from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) Opera School perform for us.
Outside, life carries on, but inside there’s a sense of something special as we listen to Mozart, Handel and other great composers.

Seeing such talented young performers, and to have access these performances in Rhiwbina village, feels like a real privilege.
To understand the story behind Concerts at the Crossroads, we spoke to Nicola Rose, concert coordinator for Beulah URC.
Nicola told us that Concerts at the Crossroads is a monthly classical recital series held on the last Wednesday of each month, except July, August and December, at Beulah URC in Rhiwbina.
Performances begin at 1pm and last no more than an hour, offering the perfect lunchtime escape.
The series has run for more than 15 years and was created by the late Rev. Dr Peter Cruchley and local musician Trix Pryce. They recognised the church as an ideal venue and wanted to give performers a chance to gain experience and share their music with the community.
The concerts are open to any artist with a Welsh connection, whether they are from Wales, have studied or worked here, or have made Wales their home.

Regular performers include students from RWCMD, the winner of the W. S Towyn Roberts Scholarship at the Eisteddfod, the winner of the Welsh Singers Competition, the Concerto competition at RWCMD and players from Welsh National Opera (WNO) and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
The concerts are based on the principle of ‘Classic FM meets BBC Radio 3’ and can range from singers to brass groups, baroque ensembles to solo harpists and more.
Tickets are £8, with free entry for anyone in full‑time education. Details of upcoming concerts can be found on the Beulah URC website or on Facebook or Instagram and, of course, on our events calendar.
Although hosted at Beulah URC, all proceeds go directly towards paying the artists and covering essential administration costs. Supporting young and emerging musicians with paid performance opportunities is central to the series, and the team is always keen to hear from performers interested in taking part.
If you can, come along and enjoy wonderful music in a friendly, intimate setting in the heart of Rhiwbina. Everyone is welcome.
The next concert welcomes Trio Caer for their debut Beulah URC performance on 25 February 2026 at 1pm. Tickets available on the day at Beulah URC. We hope to see you there.
For all local events, keep an eye on our Events Calendar.
