A hundred Welsh Springer Spaniels stole the show on the opening day of Crufts to celebrate the breed’s centenary.
Exactly 100 dogs posed in front of the camera at the NEC as the annual Birmingham bonanza got underway.
Jan Rees, from Pentyrch, is chairman of the Welsh Springer Club of South Wales and owns Welsh Springer Spaniel Lloyd, who is eight-years-old.
“It was brilliant to be a part of the centenary celebration,” she said. “I am more than happy to take part in anything that promotes the breed.”
Jan added: “I am highly delighted with today, Lloyd is just short of having his show champion title, he has two tickets and seven reserve tickets.
“Today he was in the open class with 17 others and he came fourth and then we went in the good citizens which he qualified for and we won. I have had a lovely day.”
Crufts, run by The Kennel Club, is described as “a unique celebration of happy, healthy dogs and of the loving relationship that they enjoy with their owners”.
Crufts is held from 9-12 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. Viewers can follow the show on Channel 4 and More4. For further information and tickets visit crufts.org.uk
