The main contractor for a multi-million-pound education campus project in Cardiff has filed for administration.
Cardiff Council has issued a statement today (Friday 20 September) stating that it has been informed that ISG Construction Ltd - the company building the flagship Fairwater Community Campus project - has filed for administration.
The project includes building three new schools for Cantonian High School, Riverbank School and Woodlands High School, all sharing a campus in Fairwater.
Earlier this week, the council announced that the project had held its topping out ceremony, "as construction reaches the highest point at the new £110m pioneering education campus".
Today (Friday), the council said it "wants to assure everyone that it is actively working to minimise disruption to the project."
The statement adds: "Our immediate priority is to ensure that the site of the project remains safe and secure and we will work to ensure sub-contractors get paid for the work they have completed to date".
Construction began in February 2023 and when completed, the new campus would include:
Replacing the Cantonian High School buildings with new accommodation on the same site expanding the school from six forms of entry (6FE) to eight forms of entry (8FE) with sixth form provision for up to 250 pupils.
Expanding the Specialist Resource Base (SRB) for learners with an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), hosted at Cantonian High School to 30 places in purpose-built accommodation.
Relocating Woodlands High School to the Fairwater Campus from its current site beside Trelai Park and increasing capacity to 240 places.
Relocating Riverbank School to the Fairwater Campus from its current site beside Trelai Park and increasing capacity to 112 places.
The new campus would also offer facilities for public use outside of school hours.
