It’s a huge week for sport in Rhiwbina, as the village hosts two international competitions.
From Wednesday (11th September) to Sunday (15th), Rhiwbina Tennis Club hosts the EY Wilkey Welsh Seniors Open – an ITF (International Tennis Federation) ranking event.
And from Wednesday (13th) to Sunday, Rhiwbina Bowls Club hosts the Para Bowls Home Nations competition.
The tennis event features players from as far afield as India, Australia, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Ireland, and all around Britain, with men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles, in age categories 35+ to 70+.
The para bowls line-up includes top players from Wales, England and Scotland, including Commonwealth Games medallists and rising stars.
Admission to both competitions is free, and with the venues right next to each other – a short walk from the village centre and train station, it’s a great opportunity to see top-class sport on your doorstep.
