Improving bus-stop access in Rhiwbina
A new phase of work to improve access to bus stops in Rhiwbina, Llanishen, Llandaff, and Radyr is now underway.
Thanks to support from the Welsh Government’s Local Transport Fund, Cardiff Council plans to improve 20 bus stops, including many in our part of the city.
The programme began on 19 October, with the final schemes currently scheduled for completion by 2 December 2026.
The improvements will make it easier and safer for older people, disabled passengers, parents with prams and anyone who may find existing bus stop layouts difficult to use.
At some locations, the kerb and footway will be raised to provide more level access to the entrance of the bus, making it easier for passengers to get on and off.
Road markings will also be introduced to create a bus border and help prevent vehicles from parking where they could obstruct access to the bus stop.
Council cabinet member Dan De’Ath said: “These improvements will make it safer and easier for people to board their bus at these locations. They will give buses more space to pull in, while also helping to ensure that enforcement action can be taken when bus stops are obstructed by inconsiderate parking.
“The work will make a real difference for passengers who rely on buses every day. By making bus stops safer and easier to use, we are helping to make bus travel more reliable and a better public transport option for everyone.”

Heol Uchaf, Rhiwbina: 19 to 27 October.
Wenallt Road, Rhiwbina: 21 to 26 October.
