Good Neighbours charity set to expand into Rhiwbina

The long-established charity Good Neighbours in North Cardiff (GNiNC) has announced it will be expanding into Rhiwbina for the first time.

The Llanishen-based charity currently covers Thornhill, Llanishen, Lisvane, Heath, Roath Park, Lakeside and West Cyncoed.

It offers help to people with mobility, medical or confidence problems, or who experience loneliness and find themselves in need of support.

GNiNC has now won a Volunteering Wales grant funded by Welsh Government and administered by WCVA, enabling it to expand its services into Rhiwbina.

In a press release, the charity said: "This grant will allow us to recruit more volunteers and to take on new requests for service from people who live in Rhiwbina.

"It will also help us modernise how we engage with volunteers and provide training and support to them".

The expansion into Rhiwbina is expected in late summer. The charity will also be recruiting a community volunteer engagement officer to help spread the word of the charity’s work and recruit new volunteers and clients.

In 2023 GNiNC accomplished 1,984 tasks in nearly 4,000 hours of voluntary service.

GNiNC is a registered charity established in 1981 and has around 60 local volunteers.

It doesn't charge for its services and relies on donations from clients or their families as well as fundraising. You can find more about GNiNC here.
