Cast announced for award-winning comedy

Tom Byrne will star as Richard Hannay in the Tony and Olivier Award-winning comedy, The 39 Steps, when its tour arrives in Cardiff next month (April). 


He will be joined by Safeena Ladha, Eugene McCoy and Maddie Rice, with Jacob Daniels and Hannah Parker as the understudies.

 

Tom Byrne played Prince Andrew in The Crown series 4 and appeared in Bridgerton, A Discovery of Witches and Black Mirror.  Safeena Ladha’s recent theatre work includes She at London’s Tara Theatre and on tour, in which she played eight characters.


The 39 Steps is Patrick Barlow's much-loved and hilarious adaptation of the classic Hitchcock film, played by a small cast in multiple roles and at breakneck speed!

Before then, award-winning producer Ellen Kent returns to the New Theatre with the Ukrainian Opera & Ballet Theatre Kyiv presenting stunning classical productions of Bizet’s Carmen on Tuesday 2 April and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly on Monday 15 April.


Carmen will star Ukrainian mezzo-soprano’s Natalia Matveeva and Irina Sproglis, singing in French with English surtitles. For info and tickets check here.

 

In Madama Butterfly the fabulous Korean soprano Elena Dee returns alongside Ukrainian soprano Alyona Kistenyova and Ukrainian mezzo-soprano’s Natalia Matveeva and Irina Sproglis.
