A new music event is coming to Rhiwbina - thanks to a throwaway idea among a group of local music lovers.
The organisers describe it as a "dream project" which emerged from a throway comment last autumn. Now, just a few months later, Beina Beats is a reality - and tickets are now on sale.

As their social media post puts it: "It’s amazing what a group of like minded local people can do when they have the same goal - to establish a new music scene in Rhiwbina!"
The first Beina Beats event takes place at Rhiwbina Memorial Hall in Lon Ucha on Friday 28 February. Doors open at 6pm with the first band at 6.30pm.
The show is headlined by Texas-born, London-based Rodney Branigan, a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter celebrated for his exceptional musicianship and innovative performances.
He is no stranger to Rhiwbina, having played twice at Snails Deli, and his blend of organic progressive folk, heartfelt lyrics, and soulful vocals has captivated audiences across the globe.

Also on the bill is Cardiff's Taff Rapids, with a blend of original bluegrass compositions and their own take on traditional American and Welsh tunes. Comprised of seasoned musicians Darren Eedens, Siôn Russell Jones, David Grubb, and Clem Saynor, the band infuses their music with Welsh-language elements.
And the opening band is The Brwmys - an eclectic Cardiff-based band playing jig-tastic foot stomping future folk, with influences ranging from bluegrass to bhangra, Arabic to Irish!

Tickets are available on Ticketsource at the £20 early bird rate until 9 February, when they go up to full price of £25.
It's always great to see new events in the village, so congrats to the team of Simon, Nia, Becky, Dan, Helen, Owen, Judith, Dani, Andy, Ari, and Alan for making Beina Beats happen!
