SUCCESSFUL INTERNATIONAL ITF TOURNAMENT HOSTED IN RHIWBINA

International tennis returned to Rhiwbina last week (8th September 2020) and was once again a huge success, writes Sophie Platt.

The ITF (International Tennis Federation) is a worldwide governing body for tennis, including wheelchair tennis and beachball tennis. The E Y Wilkey Welsh Open is an international event which is ITF ranking.

It is an international tournament which includes contestants from countries such as Australia, India, South Africa as well as those closer to home such as Germany, Denmark and the whole of the United Kingdom.

The tournament featured both female and male contestants, playing singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The age categories ranged from 35 to 65.

Thomas James, coach at the Rhiwbina tennis club said “Some of the best players around Britain competed in the seniors ITF tour. A team of dedicated volunteers and officials ensured the tournament was played in a fun and safe environment.”

The tournament was a huge success and a highly prestigious event for Rhiwbina Tennis Club, which is looking forward to welcoming the tournament back next year.
