STUDENT CLOTHING BRAND CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL YEAR

Allie and Jack

This time last year, two Cardiff students were piecing together their ideas to create a new lifestyle brand, and in May they will celebrate a year since the launch of Elsie & Arthur.

Jack Williams, 22, and Allie Lawson, 21, who also works at Rhiwbina-based Weltch Media, set up the brand after being awarded a launcher loan from School For Startups, founded by ex-Dragons’ Den investor Doug Richards.

Originally from North Devon, the team behind Elsie & Arthur use influences from the Devonshire countryside and traditional British culture to create high quality clothing, using only natural textiles such as cotton, wool and silk.

They are launching their new collection exactly a year since they first launched their online shop, which allows the duo to sell to customers around the UK and Europe. The brand now has thousands of followers on social media, including the likes of Hilary Devey and Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury.

‘I’m looking forward to releasing our new range’ said Allie. ‘You can expect lots of bright, patterned summer dresses, in both short and maxi lengths. We’re also introducing some new t-shirts and shirts, as well as a new take on our classic beach bags.’

The soon-to-be graduates, who are currently looking at trialling pop-up shops, are exhibiting at a number of summer events in the South West, including the North Devon Show.

‘We’re really excited to be back exhibiting at events again’ said Jack. ‘It’s a great way to connect with new customers and showcase our brand’.

The entrepreneurs are also currently speaking to a number of stores nationwide who are interested in stocking their products.

Information on the brand is available at www.elsieandarthur.co.uk
