Pupils from Rhiwbeina Primary School were among more than 10,000 children who commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a special picnic provided by Cardiff's Education Catering Service.

Pupils from 83 primary and special schools across the city marked Victory in Europe Day by enjoying a picnic lunch.
Many schools celebrated with VE Day decorations and wearing the colours red, white and blue to remember the day when fighting in Europe ended on 8 May 1945.
Cardiff's deputy leader and cabinet member for education, Sarah Merry said: "It's heartwarming to see so many of our youngest children coming together to honour the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
"Through food, colour and remembrance, our schools are helping a new generation understand the significance of peace, unity, and the sacrifices made for our freedom."

The special VE Day picnic is part of a series of themed menus provided by Cardiff's Education Catering Service, designed to help children celebrate key events throughout the year.
