REVIEW- BUDDY HOLLY- A STORY OF A ROCK ‘N’ ROLL LEGEND

Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story tour is back in Cardiff celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The Buddy Holly Story is a globally successful show which celebrates the short-lived, yet extremely successful career of the legend Buddy Holly. It opened at the New Theatre last night (Tuesday 26th November) and runs until Saturday (30th).

The musical Buddy follows the success of Buddy Holly’s career. Starting in 1956, the show portrays all of Buddy’s career highlights, like performing at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York, and the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa – which turned out to be his last performance.

The musical shows Buddy’s life, from his time with The Crickets to marrying Maria Elena, and finally mentioning his tragic death in 1959, which shocked the world.

AJ Jenks brings the iconic rock ‘n’ roll star to life in an energetic performance that captures the love and passion that Buddy surely had for his music. Featuring 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll songs, the show brings the audience to the ’50s and makes them feel part of the performances Buddy Holly made.

This show is not just for fans of Buddy Holly, it is suitable and extremely enjoyable for everyone – and will have you wanting to listen to all of his greatest hits for days after.

Jenks is supported by Cartier Fraser, Harry Boyd, Jordan Alexander, Josh Haberfield, Joe Butcher, Hannah Price, Sasha Latoya, Ben Pryer, Joshua Barton, Miguel Angel and Rhiannon Hopkins, all of whom help to bring the story of Buddy Holly to life, giving it the justice it deserves.
