The New Theatre’s annual pantomime Aladdin has been rescheduled to run from December 2021 instead of this year, the theatre announced today (Monday 17 August).
The panto is a seasonal highlight for over 50,000 people each year and has been a regular traditional offering during the theatre’s 114 year history.
Following discussions with the producing partner, Qdos Pantomimes, the theatre concluded that due to the ongoing restrictions and the expected timescale for their relaxation it would be impossible to deliver a viable pantomime season in 2020/2021.
Aladdin, starring Gareth Gates, Paul Chuckle, Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas, and Mike Doyle, is now scheduled to run from Saturday 4 December 2021 to Sunday 2 January 2022.
A spokesperson for the New Theatre said: “We would like to thank all our customers for their understanding at this time and we will be in contact by email within the next couple of days to discuss booking options. We have begun the complex process of transferring all bookings to next year and would like to ask customers not to contact us at the current time”.
He continued: “As one of Wales’ oldest theatres, we recognise that our annual pantomime is a seasonal highlight for many people and we are disappointed not to be able to present Aladdin this year.
“Looking to the future we are working hard to ensure we have an exciting programme of entertainment in place, and look forward to welcoming audiences back to our venues once it is safe to do so.”
