Changes to recycling are coming to Rhiwbina

Households in Rhiwbina and Heath are among those switching to a new recycling collection system next month (February).

People in Rhiwbina, Heath West, Radyr, Llandaff, Pentyrch, Gabalfa, Pentwyn, Grangetown, Ely, Splott and Trowbridge, who were not part of Cardiff Council's recycling trials, will need to start separating their recycling from Tuesday 20 February.

The council says the trials show that the quality of recycling from residents’ homes has increased significantly by separating glass, plastic and tin, and paper and card, with the 'contamination rate' (items that can't be recycled) reducing from 30% to 6%.

From Monday 29 January to Friday 16 February, the council will deliver new recycling containers to homes, along with a leaflet explaining how to use them.

If you live in one of these areas and took part in the council's 2022 pilot, they won’t deliver new containers to your home.

And if you live in an apartment or flat with communal recycling and non-recyclable waste bins, these changes won’t affect you.
