Cardiff theatre preview: Musicals, classic and new

The UK tour of the Olivier award-winning production of classic musical Fiddler on the Roof arrives at Cardiff's New Theatre next week (18-22 November).
The show, which won the Oliviers for Best Musical Revival, Best Set Design, and Best Sound Design, stars Matthew Woodyatt as Tevye, Jodie Jacobs as Golde, and Olivier Award nominee Beverley Klein as Yente.

WIdely regarded as one of the greatest musicals of all time, it features much-loved songs including If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition, Matchmaker, and Sunrise, Sunset.
Set in 1905 in the Ukrainian village of Anatevka, it's a musical of joy, revolution, and community.

🎭 Looking to next year, Pride, a new musical based on the award-winning film, set during the 1984 miners' strike, will have preview performances at the Sherman Theatre from 31 March to 18 April 2026.
It tells the story a small group of gay men and lesbians who lent their support to a village in South Wales, during the famous strike.
🎭 Sherman Theatre has announced that the first production under its artistic director designate Francesca Goodridge will be a new play co-produced with the Royal Court Theatre, as part of its 70th birthday season.
Monument, by Welsh writer and actor Rhys Warrington, charts a Welsh farming community’s struggles to commemorate a recent tragedy - and asks the audience to choose an ending.
It will open at the Royal Court in December 2026 before its run at Sherman Theatre in January 2027.
