Rhiwbina has a new litter-picking group, with the aim of making Rhiwbina a cleaner and healthier place.
The group of volunteers meet at Rhiwbina Library/ Hub on the last Wednesday of every month at 10am. They finish by 11.30am and finish with tea and biscuits in the library.
Linda Hadfield, the secreary of Keep Rhiwbina Tidy, told us: “We are just in the process of becoming a properly constituted and insured group with the aim of keeping Rhiwbina a cleaner and healthier place to live.
“We also aim to raise awareness of recycling, proper waste disposal and the problems of littering.”
Currently supported by Keep Wales Tidy and the Cardiff council initiative Love Where you Live, from January they will have to become an independent group and will be raising funds for insurance and additional equipment.
Linda explained: “Although there is a small amount of equipment stored at the library Hub for us to use, we are going to need a lot more, as last month we had an amazing 44 volunteers including pupils and staff from Rhiwbeina and Greenhill schools. We filled 19 bags of litter!”
The group welcomes more volunteers, who can do as much or as little as they like. They just have to turn up. But anyone wanting more info, can contact the group by email on keeprhiwbinatidy@gmail.com
