Community development charity Spice Time Credits is launching ‘Cardiff is Kind’, an initiative to reward acts of kindness, at Rhiwbina Library on Thursday 8th March.
Individuals and groups interested in learning more about Cardiff is Kind are invited to the launch and information session at 6pm. The event will introduce partners already involved in the initiative and showcase some of the wonderful acts of kindness happening across the city already.
The Cardiff is Kind campaign will be jointly run by Spice Time Credits, in partnership with Cardiff Council as well as several local charities and organisations, including the Cardiff branch of Good Gym and Love Where You Live.
Spice Time Credits uses a social currency called Time Credits. This means that for every hour someone spends giving to their community, they can earn a Time Credit in return. These can then be spent on activities such as theatre shows at Wales Millennium Centre, DIY workshops at Axminster Tools & Machinery Cardiff Store, Cardiff International Pool and many other venues.
Time Credits can be earned through other events being held across the area over the month, for example arts and crafts sessions which are being held at Maes-Y-Coed Community Centre on Thursday 15th March at 10:30am-12pm. Another opportunity is community litter picking, which will take place on Tuesday 27th March at Llanishen Fach Play Area, 3:30pm and Wednesday 28th March at Llanishen Leisure at 3:30pm. There is also a chance to celebrate Easter with the Spice Team by volunteering to help run an Easter Tea Party for older people in the community at Rhiwbina Recreation Club on Wednesday 28th March at 12-2pm.
“Whether it’s a formal volunteering role or small acts of kindness that you show to a neighbour or friend – we want as many people as possible across Cardiff to get involved in Cardiff is Kind!” says Spice Time Credits regional manager Anne-Marie Lawrence.
Share your support by sharing acts of kindness you’ve seen or taken part in on Facebook or tweet them using the hashtag #cardiffiskind
